Kojima Productions created METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES as a prologue to the events of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. This exclusive prequel will introduce key gameplay elements that will continue through the second and final part of the epic fifth installment of the METAL GEAR SOLID series, and will serve as a bridge between the previous games in the series and METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. MGS V: GROUND ZEROES tells the story of a rescue mission at a Cuban prison camp, with the events depicted culminating in the story of MGS V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. This prequel will showcase the vast improvements made to the series using Kojima Productions’ FOX Engine, and will feature vast environments and missions where weather and day-night cycles play a vital role. These elements will be key in MGS V: GROUND ZEROES, and will allow you to begin to familiarize yourself with the possibilities that will be offered by MGS V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. FOX ENGINE: Ground Zeroes showcases Kojima Productions' stunning graphics engine, a next-generation game engine that revolutionizes the Metal Gear Solid experience. STEALTH: Players will be able to use strategies to sneak their way through or proceed towards objectives with guns blazing. Each choice will have different effects on the progression and progression in the game.

GROUND ZEROES will also be the first look at substantial gameplay changes coming to METAL GEAR SOLID, including vast open-world environments, variable weather and temporal effects, and a truly astonishing AI. All characters encountered or rescued prisoners in GROUND ZEROES will return in THE PHANTOM PAIN. Additionally, players will be able to use their GROUND ZEROES save games to create their own Mother Base in THE PHANTOM PAIN, with every choice and action made having a different impact on this aspect. Kojima Productions has also confirmed that all versions of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES will benefit from a companion app called iDROID. Accessible via iOS, Android, and Smart Glass, iDROID will act as a second screen to provide additional information to the main game. It can be used to display the map and call for air support, and any cassette tape found in the game can also be listened to via the App, which will also display the global ranking upon completion of missions. Another important note; the iDROID will allow you to build Mother Base. The concept of Mother Base was first introduced in METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER, and consisted of a power plant where new weapons could be developed and items collected to be used in future missions. The Mother Base feature is an integral part of the iDROID App and can also be used as a standalone game. Using iDROID, players will be able to sync their progress with GROUND ZEROES and progress in the development of their Mother Base wherever they are, or even listen to cassette tapes and intel data found in the main game.
