BioShock is a revolutionary game in the shooter genre that will forever change the way we evaluate FPS. Going beyond the “running and gunning down corridors,” “low enemy intelligence,” and stale static worlds, BioShock creates a unique and indescribable FPS experience. The story follows the player as they find themselves alone in icy, uncharted waters following a tragic plane crash. Desperate to reach safety, they discover a rusted bathysphere that leads them to Rapture, a sunken city beneath the sea. Built as an ideal society by a small band of scientists, artists, and industrialists, Rapture has since collapsed under the weight of its own idealism. Now the city is littered with corpses, populated by mighty guardians who wander the corridors accompanied by mutant girls who loot the bodies of the dead, and with genetically modified inhabitants who try to ambush the player at every corner. One of the key elements of Bioshock lies in the very special atmosphere that permeates the game from the very first moments: a strong horror charge underlined by an incredibly suggestive setting and an impressive sound department for the quality of the effects and music. The game is graphically devastating: the detail of the settings is astonishing, as is the wise use of light effects and the physics engine. Worthy of mention, for example, is the reproduction of water and all the reflection and refraction effects that result from it. Each object in the scenario, in addition to having specific physical properties and behaving accordingly, will almost always be examineable and usable in some way by the user, with the aim of offering us an almost absolute interaction with the environment.

Non-linear gameplay: every moment, every game situation, every problem to be solved will always be interpretable and surmountable according to the choices dictated by the player's style of play and his spirit of observation. Very convincing artificial intelligence simulation system: each character will have a behavior influenced in real time both by the player's choices and by the interaction with any other characters controlled by the computer, hostile or not. All the weapons that we will gradually use during the game will be customizable (even aesthetically) and upgradeable at will according to your own style of play, modifying the main attributes such as precision, power or reload speed. To take the place of magical powers (after all, we are still talking about an FPS with RPG elements) there are a series of essences that will endow our character with various special powers (e.g.: acquiring the ability to launch electric shocks, fireballs, use telekinesis to attract objects and relaunch them at enemies, slow down the passage of time, etc ...).
