Can the PlayStation Portal™ remote player only be used over my home Wi-Fi network?
A home Wi-Fi network is a good way to use the PlayStation Portal™ remote player as you have control over the quality of the Wi-Fi, but it is not a requirement. The PlayStation Portal™ remote player can be used anywhere you can access a broadband Wi-Fi Internet connection with a speed of at least 5 Mbps*. For the best gaming experience, we recommend a high-speed connection of at least 15 Mbps. If you are using a public Wi-Fi network, please note that you may not have control over the quality of the Internet connection and this may impact your gaming experience.
Is a PlayStation Plus membership required to use the PlayStation Portal™ remote player and PlayStation® Remote Play?
No, using the PlayStation Portal™ remote player and PlayStation® Remote Play does not require a PlayStation Plus membership**. If you are using Remote Play to play a game that requires a PS Plus membership to access multiplayer, you will need an active membership to access that game’s multiplayer features.
Can another person use the TV that my PS5 is connected to while I use the PlayStation Portal™ remote player?
Yes. For example, another member of your family could watch a show or movie on the TV while you use the PlayStation Portal™ remote player to play your favorite compatible games on the stunning 8" HD screen.
*The PlayStation Portal™ remote player can stream compatible games installed on the PS5 console. The PlayStation Portal™ remote player requires a broadband Wi-Fi internet connection with a minimum of 5 Mbps. For the best gaming experience, we recommend a high-speed connection of at least 15 Mbps. The quality and connectivity of the gaming experience may vary depending on your network environment. A PS5 console and PlayStation Network account are required. The PS5 console must be connected to a broadband internet connection, fully turned on or in Rest Mode, and paired with the PlayStation Portal™ remote player.
**Games that require a VR headset (PlayStation VR or PlayStation VR2) or additional peripherals (other than a DualSense Edge, DualSense, or DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller) are not compatible. Games that must be streamed to PS5 via a PS Plus Premium membership are not compatible. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers available if supported by the game.
