Tombi! was released for PlayStation in 1997 in Japan, under the name Tomba!, and the following year in Europe.
It has since remained playable only on PlayStation and the original CD has become an expensive collector's item, but a new version will be available on PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Tomba! will have the same content as the original but reconstructed and reworked thanks to the Carbon Engine, a development tool that allows video games with a few years on their backs to run on modern consoles. The development of Tomba! involved Tokuro Fujiwara and Fujita Harumi, respectively creator and composer of the 1997 work.

Additions include some design tweaks, a modern control system with analog stick support, the ability to save your game at any time, rewind the action, as well as previously unreleased documents, artwork, and promotional material.
